About the Event

Esthetic Posterior Restorations:  Direct, Semi-direct and Indirect Techniques

Dr.Arvind Shenoy

More and more patients demand tooth-coloured and minimally invasive treatment options. As we move away from Amalgam and full crowns the emphasis now shifts to newer technologies and materials. Unfortunately, the sheer variety of materials and techniques available can be confusing and challenging. How do these materials and techniques stack up against each other when evaluated over a period of time? Special emphasis will be placed on scientific data-driven evidence to show what works and what doesn’t. This course will present the foundations of this evolution based on scientific evidence and clinical experience. To enable you to achieve restorations with natural properties, such as mechanical strength, function and esthetics, is the goal of this course.

  • Advantages of bonded restorations over traditional approaches
  • Paradigm shifts in the materials and techniques related to  adhesive dentistry
  • Direct or Indirect making the right choice
  • Optimal use of current restorative materials and systems
  • Composite and ceramic material selection and techniques
  • Selection of appropriate resin composite for each cavity design and which features they should have
  • Injection moulding techniques and their utility
  • Light curing and its significance in adhesive dentistry
  • Preparation design: principles of tooth preparation for bonded restorations
  • Dentin bonding protocol: rationale for immediate dentin sealing
  • Preparation and fabrication of class II and Onlay restorations, including CAD/CAM
  • Instruments, Equipment and tools to achieve mastery on these techniques
  • Focus on the original natural properties of teeth
